On June 17, 2026, the conference “How to Approach Energy Sharing and Energy Communities” took place at UVP Technicom in Košice, organized by TUKE in cooperation with the Energy and Climate Agency of the Košice Self-Governing Region (KSK). The event brought together participants from the public sector, the business community, research organizations, and civil society.

The first part of the program was dedicated to energy sharing and supporting the development of energy communities. In this context, the DECA (Danube Energy Communities Accelerator) project was presented; it supports the development of citizen-led initiatives in the field of renewable energy and energy communities within the Danube region.

In the second thematic block, we focused on the circular economy and the bioeconomy. The CITISYSTEM project—”Supporting cities in sustainable biobased systemic change”—was presented, along with its current implementation status and the preparations for a Knowledge Centre for the development of the circular economy and bioeconomy in the Košice Region.

The discussion also featured a practical example from the town of Trebišov, focusing on options for processing biomass and its utilization within a local and regional context. Such experiences demonstrate that energy solutions, efficient resource use, and circular approaches can naturally complement one another.

The event confirmed the importance of cooperation among local governments, the professional community, universities, the business sector, and civil society in seeking practical solutions for the sustainable development of the region.
